Renting out: rental stamp duty
Works out the stamp duty on a lease from the rent and the lease term.
Open renting out: rental stamp duty
What it needs from you
- Monthly rent
- The rent in the agreement, or the market rent if that is higher, in Singapore dollars.
- Lease term in months
- The length of the tenancy, up to 1,200 months.
How it works
This works out the stamp duty on a tenancy agreement; it covers the duty only, not whether renting out suits you.
It takes one flat monthly rent for the whole lease, and IRAS charges on the agreed rent or the market rent, whichever is higher.
Source: IRAS, as at the checked date on the page. Next: rental stamp duty.
Common mistakes
- Treating the duty as the cost of the whole letting: it is one cost.
- Entering the wrong term: the duty depends on it.
